Gone But Not Forgotten

 

Beryl Kay O'Connor Riddle
June 24, 1941-January 1, 2021


Beryl Kay O'ConnorRiddle died Friday January 1st at Merit Health River Region. She was 79.

Beryl Kay was a lifelong resident of Redwood and Vicksburg MS. Beryl Kay was a graduate of Redwood High School where she played basketball. She later went on to become an x-ray technician.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donny Riddle and her parents, Ollie O'Connor and Addie Mae Smithhart O'Connor.

 She is survived by her two daughters Tara Riddle and Brandy Hudson, one grandson Kip Hull, her sister Gayle Spinks, and several nieces and nephews. She was the most wonderful, generous person in the world.

Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fields officiating.  Visitation is at 10 with the service following immediately after. 

 

Alexander Shiers
February 16, 1942 - April 7, 2022


Alexander Shiers was born February 16, 1942. He passed away April 7, 2022.

Alex graduated from Redwood School in Vicksburg, MS. He joined the U.S. Army after graduating and served within the security intelligence department. Alex was stationed in Homestead, Florida for his duration in the U.S. Army. When Alex returned home, he and Jeepy dated for a few years. They were then married in 1966. Alex and Jeepy were soon to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary on July 16. Alex went to work on the railroad for a short time. He then joined the team at South Central Bell. While working for South Central Bell, he attended and graduated with honors from Belhaven College with a degree in Business and a minor in Ecology. Alex retired from AT&T. Alex founded, owned, and operated Shiers Communications. He was an avid traveler and loved sailing the seas. Alex is known for his contagious laugh and smile, generous heart, and his hilarious pranks. Alex will be missed tremendously by many people who were honored to know and love him. 

Alex was preceded in death by his parents Robert Shiers and Florene Dement Shiers, brother Eddie Guy Shiers, and a sister Mildred Shiers.

Alex is survived by his wife Jeepy Shiers, daughter Dean Shiers Boyd Anderson (Chuck), brothers Robert "Peanut" Shiers, Jr. (Peggy), Allen Ray Shiers (Pat), sisters Bernice Walley Johnson (Tim) and Becky Gail Harris, sister-in-law Debbie Shiers, grandchildren Veronica Boyd (Blake Jernigan), J Boyd, Ilona Anderson, and Landen Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Glenwood Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service,


In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Vicksburg Warren Humane Society and/or St. Paul's Catholic Church of Vicksburg, MS. 

Family and friends are invited to Duff Green Mansion for a celebration of life.
